Academic argument, research, and revision

Download the complete guide and choose printable or fillable worksheets for an academic essay.

Start Where You Are

If you are beginning a project, read Chapter 1 and complete the workbook’s planning pages. If your draft already exists, begin with the revision and final-check pages. If you need help with sources, use the completed teaching example, then write in a blank source record.

Choose the Format You Need

The complete guide PDF contains the revised chapters, reference models, and document-setup notes. The printable workbook uses white pages and outlined writing areas. The fillable workbook has the same prompts with interactive fields.

Save, Type, and Check

Download a blank copy and save a project-specific filename before typing. Use a PDF reader that supports form fields. Save, close, and reopen your copy to confirm that entries persist. Response areas have deliberate character limits so printed entries remain visible; continue on a labelled page when necessary. The blank downloadable master contains no personal entries and no reset script.

Read Source Examples Correctly

Only the completed example is labelled fictional teaching material. Blank records and continuation pages are yours to complete. Record the actual source, precise locator, exact wording or paraphrase, your analysis, and the limits of the evidence. Never use an invented source from an exercise as real research.

Requirements

The institution’s or venue’s requirements remain authoritative for your own work.
